2011 Olivier Award winners Nancy Carroll and Roger Allam will announce this year’s nominees at an event at the May Fair Hotel on Thursday.
As previously announced, for the first time ever the announcement of this year’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard nominees will be streamed live online, so theatre fans from around the world can watch the big reveal as it happens at www.olivierawards.com
Carroll and Allam were awarded the Best Actress and Best Actor accolades last year so it is fitting that they return to tell the world who might take home this year’s coveted gongs on 15 April at the glittering ceremony at Covent Garden’s Royal Opera House.
Accepting her award for her critically acclaimed performance in After The Dance last year, Carroll said: “Everybody – we love what we do and we work hard. It’s a testament to the enjoyment of what we do”. Allam, who was awarded the prestigious prize for his performance as Falstaff in Henry IV Parts 1 and 2, dedicated his award to the audiences at Shakespeare’s Globe.
Four shows already in the running to take home an award at this year’s ceremony are Billy Elliot The Musical, Jersey Boys, Les Misérables and Wicked, the shortlist for the BBC Radio 2 Olivier Audience Award. Theatregoers in their thousands voted to reduce the long list of long-running productions down to the final four and now have until 11 April to vote for their favourite show.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of the audience at the nominees’ announcement on Thursday by watching live at 12:00 on www.olivierawards.com
