Fantastically Great Women meet…Fantastically Great Women

The actors playing pioneering historical women Emmeline Pankhurst and Mary Seacole in the musical Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World met their characters’ portraits at the National Portrait Gallery earlier today. 

Meg Hateley (who plays Pankhurst) and Anelisa Lamola (who plays Seacole) were photographed alongside their portrait counterparts, with Georgia Grant-Anderson who plays Jade, a schoolgirl who gets lost in the not-yet-open ‘Gallery of Greatness’ on a school trip. 

Individual portraits of Pankhurst (Room 25, Floor 2) and Seacole (Room 21, Floor 2) are on display at the National Portrait Gallery. In addition, both are featured in the mural ‘Work in Progress’ by Jann Haworth and Liberty Blake, supported by CHANEL Culture Fund, which also includes Mary Anning and Jane Austen, who make appearances as characters in Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World as well. In symmetry with the show, the character of Jade, who is a symbol of today and tomorrow, is pictured in front of the mural’s 130 great women who have shaped the world as we know it.

Until Friday 6 September, a child aged 17 or under can see Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World for free, when accompanied by an adult paying full price, with our Kids Week promotion. Plus, an additional two children can attend for half price – all with no booking fees.
