A man and a woman meet in a Parisian café. He recounts the tale of Jean-Eugene Robert Houdin, clock-maker, inventor and magician. Together they search beneath the Boulevard des Italiens for Houdin’s abandoned theatre; uncovering the mystery of the Mechanical Turk, and delving ever deeper into the art of illusion.
